St. John the Baptist Melkite Church Scouts was the first Arab American Scouts in the United States of America founded in 1997 by six dedicated members of our Church: Habib Khasho, Raymond Khasho, Nelson Hanna, Jamal Shehadeh, Souheil Sous & Salwa Najjar (Sous) and by the blessing of Rev. Fr. Albert Wehby.
The main objective of the St. John the Baptist Church Scouts is to “Serve God through serving our youth”. The Church Scout founders realized that the future of our Church as well as our society is vested in each successive generation. Our heritage as Arab Americans is full of good values and traditions. Today, the Scouts continue our Middle Eastern tradition by leading the Palm Sunday as well as the Holy Week processions. The Scouts consist of our parish youth and adults of all ages.
